Long Term Substitute: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (SY 2026/2027 Pending Budget Approval)

District-wide position available starting 08/24/2026.

About the Role

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavior analytic services to support special education staff, pupil services staff, general education teachers, and administrators in delivering behavioral supports and services designed to assist students in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). The BCBA conducts assessments and develops plans in compliance with IDEA, Connecticut law and regulations, and other applicable statutes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement behavior management and/or behavioral interventions with district approval.
• Participate on behavior teams to support and manage the implementation of behavior plans.
• Maintain appropriate records and provide guidance to teachers and staff on behavioral interventions.
• Provide coaching and professional development to staff on behavior interventions and supports.
• Participate in Planning and Placement Team meetings.
• Confer with general and special education teachers, pupil services staff, and administrators regarding students with disabilities and behavioral challenges.
• Provide consultation for building-by-building safety plans, tier III behavior intervention plans, and other supports.
• Train staff and family members on the implementation of behavior support plans.
• Conduct treatment fidelity assessments and ensure proper descriptive progress notes.
• Assist with maintaining student data and prepare reports for the Director of Pupil Services.
• Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to increase appropriate student behavior and academic skills.
• Consult and/or conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) to inform individualized behavior plans.
• Conduct evaluations for identification or reevaluation of special education services as needed.
• Assist in developing and providing staff training for working with students with exceptionalities and behavioral disorders.
• Oversee Registered Behavior Technicians.
• Assist in training staff in Physical & Psychological Management Training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services.

Requirements

• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required.
• Master’s Degree required.
• Expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional Disabilities, and other challenging behaviors.
• Experience working in public schools.
• Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) preferred.
