About the Role

The Logistics Technician I will handle both the unloading of raw materials used for making biodiesel and loading the finished fuel and co-products into tanker trailers. This position ensures all load information is accurately tracked through entering shipping information into the AS400 and Agris computer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment by observing all local, state, and federal regulations regarding health, safety, and the environment, including established plant and lab safety practices.
  • Sample each feedstock truck and deliver to Control Room or Lab to confirm quality acceptance before offloading the truck.
  • Transfer raw material from delivery vehicles to designated storage tanks; understand the proper procedure for unloading tankers and consequences of improper venting or product contamination.
  • Follow BQ9000 policy and procedures for all pre-loading inspections.
  • Transfer finished fuel and co-products from designated storage tanks to delivery vehicles; understand the proper procedure for loading tankers and consequences of improper venting.
  • Operate a forklift, skid steer, utility vehicle, pickup truck, and/or other equipment for moving materials.
  • Use knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control to maximize effective shipping and receiving of goods.
  • Review, release, and record shipping information, shipment results, and handle bills of lading.
  • Perform continuous improvement projects in the tank farm and logistics areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a chemical or petrochemical environment preferred but not required.
  • Basic understanding of proper material handling, especially acid/base chemistry and the effects of improper mixing.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Effective oral presentation skills for all levels of management.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR preferred.

Work Environment

Work environment consists of office, plant production, and outdoor climate conditions. Noise level varies within the production area.

Physical Demands

  • Primarily operational role requiring significant physical activity, including frequent walking, standing, and stair climbing.
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Work often conducted in outdoor environments with exposure to heat, cold, and moisture.
  • Adequate visual acuity for reading and monitoring equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schedule

12-hour shifts, with schedule to be determined. Occasionally extended hours or schedule changes may be required for special circumstances.
