About the role
The overall purpose of this position is to optimize the execution of truck and rail shipments of biofuels and vegetable oils into and out of a large vertically integrated oilseeds processing facility. The ideal candidate should have a keen interest in the food and biofuels space and be prepared to grow with LDC as it expands its US footprint.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and execute biodiesel truck and rail logistics to meet customer needs
- Maintain and update the fleet of oil, biodiesel, refined glycerin, and canola railcars
- Update forecasts to support daily purchasing and sales decisions
- Coordinate daily loading/unloading of rail to align with operations and inventory availability
- Participate in inventory management planning meetings for biodiesel and vegetable oil
- Coordinate inbound bean oil logistics with the commercial and operations teams
- Establish and maintain freight pricing matrices for customer/supplier origins and destinations
- Communicate customer quality requirements and requests to the lab and operations teams
- Prepare and aggregate paperwork for inbound and outbound shipments
- Liaise with Biodiesel & Ingredients sales teams on associated markets
- Resolve pricing discrepancies and build relationships with freight providers
- Optimize preferred carriers for common lanes
- Aid in merchandising by-products
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Finance, Science, or Logistics, or at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain management, or customs clearance of food grade products
- Basic knowledge of biofuels, vegetable oils, or liquid food grade products
- Experience with financial acumen, logistics budgeting, freight value estimation, network modeling, and forecasting
- Understanding of import/export processes including ISF process, FDA pre notify process, and customs clearance
- Familiarity with freight invoice payment, claims settlement, and procurement events/bid processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage a to-do list and prioritize workload
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software, preferably MS Word and Excel & SharePoint
Qualifications
- Basic qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of relevant experience
- Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with biofuels, vegetable oils, or liquid food grade products; financial acumen; understanding of import/export processes; familiarity with freight invoice payment, claims settlement, and procurement events/bid processes; knowledge of food grade hygiene procedures and quality documentation

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Primarily a full-time position with occasional call-ins or extended working hours as needed.
