Overview
The Logistics Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring Wayfair's Physical Retail operations run smoothly. Key responsibilities include maintaining inventory accuracy, managing shipments, and supporting a seamless customer experience.
What Does a Logistics & Inventory Specialist Do?
- Demonstrates Reliability: Be present and punctual, communicate proactively about issues, and conduct daily audits.
- Ensures Inventory Accuracy: Conduct Cycle Count Programs, track carton-level details, and use scanning technology.
- Manages Inventory Performance: Monitor aging inventory, process markdowns, and handle returns.
- Receives and Processes Shipments: Unload and record shipments accurately, and manage overages, shortages, and damages.
- Proactively Monitors Systems: Utilize order management tools and software to track inventory flow and resolve discrepancies.
- Audits Operations: Perform regular and trigger-based audits on inbound and outbound shipments.
- Supports Operational Excellence: Use ticketing systems to manage exceptions and provide feedback on tools and processes.
- Collaborates Across Teams: Work closely with logistics leaders and other departments to streamline operations.
- Adapts and Problem-Solves: Own inventory challenges, drive solutions, and ensure smooth coordination between warehouse and retail teams.
- Operates as “One Team”: Support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross-training and adapting to various store functions.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 to 3 years of inventory control experience, preferably in retail.
- 1+ year in distribution or logistics preferred.
Additional Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, reaching, frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently.
- Temperature Flexibility: Comfortable in varying temperature conditions.
- Noise Tolerance: Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels.
- Safety Awareness: Minimal exposure to workplace or environmental hazards.
