Summary/Objective
A Logistics Specialist is a key administrative and logistics execution role for industrial ingredients, flavors, and seasonings. The ideal candidate must be a self-driven, team player with initiative and strong writing and communication skills.
Essential Functions
- Manages the movement of goods and materials through a combination of full truckload, less than truckload, international ocean shipments, and parcel shipments.
- Works closely with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth logistics operations and meet customer expectations.
- Tracks shipments, handles documentation, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to shipping and logistics.
Responsibilities/Skills/Abilities
- Manages transportation schedules, optimizes routes, and coordinates shipments across various carriers.
- Has authority to negotiate with carriers and suppliers to secure favorable rates and service levels.
- Dispatches freight movement to appropriate transportation companies to meet customers and/or TFSI operational expectations.
- Communicates, answers inquiries, and provides documentation to customers, transportation companies, and shipping facilities.
- Understands and operates in all areas of the logistics operation.
- Supports the logistics team with daily reconciliation of all related documentation.
- Supports keeping the Transportation Management System updated.
- Executes the daily reconciliation of carrier invoices and assists with the freight approval process.
- Manages daily activity to ensure customer expectations are achieved or exceeded.
- Participates in a “customer centric” culture within the team.
- Confirms proper documentation has been received and properly completed for all shipments.
- Communicates with key stakeholders including carriers, brokers, customers, and internal departments.
- Proactively works with the entire TFS team to assist in problem resolution.
- Uses computers, software, and other technology for transportation, inventory, and communication purposes.
Work Experience Requirements
- 2 years of experience in logistics, customer service, or related field within an office environment.
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in supply chain or related field of study.
- Experience working with carriers, freight forwarders, and NVOCCs.
- Tracking shipments and addressing delays or exceptions.
Education/Knowledge Requirements
- Proficient working with ERP, Microsoft suite with extensive Excel experience.
- Transportation management systems experience, preferred.
- Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Attention to detail and problem solving.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Experience with international shipments (familiarity in Incoterms, documentation, US Customs procedures).

International Logistics Manager
Physical Requirements
- Work involves sitting most of the workday greater than 50% of the time.
- Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
- Typing and applying pressure with the fingers and palm required.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Work Environment/Hours
- Onsite - Full-time
- Office hours are typically 8:30-5:00pm, Monday-Friday with occasional overtime.
