Logistics Specialist

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Transportation Coordinator (Logistics Specialist) to support transportation operations within a dynamic logistics organization. This role is responsible for coordinating the movement of raw materials and finished goods, ensuring shipments are planned efficiently and delivered on time while maintaining a strong focus on service, cost, and quality. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, and be comfortable managing a high volume of transportation transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily shipments using a Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Assign freight to carriers and ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
• Communicate with carriers, customers, and internal teams to resolve transportation issues.
• Support order management and transportation compliance activities.
• Follow routing and truckload optimization standards.
• Analyze shipment and transportation data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain accurate shipment documentation and records.
• Aid in transportation projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Provide support to other Transportation Coordinators as needed.

Day-to-Day

• Heavy use of Excel and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Work within Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) or similar platforms.
• Manage approximately 10–50 shipments per day, depending on facility volume.
• Support 200–350 daily orders in a fast-paced environment.
• Utilize transportation metrics and analytics to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, customer service, or operations coordination preferred.
• Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and high-volume transactions in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davidson, NC. Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following:
