Logistics Specialist
About the role
The Logistics Specialist (Emergency Department Administrative Assistant) serves as the primary voice for the Emergency Department, handling multiple phone calls efficiently and effectively, often under stressful conditions. Key responsibilities include:
- Answering and directing large number of phone calls to the Emergency Department, including physician and professional calls regarding transfers, admissions, and consultations.
- Facilitating transfers of patients to and from outside facilities, including printing/copying/scanning patient documents.
- Facilitating patient flow by placing admissions within the bed placement system.
- Scanning patient charges and maintaining and ordering department supplies, office and form supplies, nourishment, etc. Ordering specialty supplies for the trauma department and physicians.
- Maintaining department statistics for quality, safety, and regulatory needs.
- Scanning patient documents into the electronic medical record. Providing Health Information Management services after hours for emergency department patients.
