About the Role

As a member of the Logistics and Operations team at Wayfair, you play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy, organization, and integrity of inventory within the store and warehouse environment. You ensure products are received, tracked, stored, and processed correctly to support a seamless customer and operational experience. Through daily audits, cycle counts, shipment processing, and system monitoring, you help protect inventory accuracy while supporting efficient product flow throughout the building. This role requires strong attention to detail, accountability, and a proactive mindset. You will work with retail and visual merchandising teams to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and improve operational processes.

Key Metrics

  • Logistics Associate: Efficiently receive, prepare, process, and accurately locate all incoming inventory while maintaining productivity and inventory accuracy standards. Consistently supports daily department workload and operational execution.
  • Logistics Specialist: Owns inventory integrity for an assigned department. Ensures inventory is accurately received, stored, audited, and replenished. Identifies and resolves inventory discrepancies, drives process compliance, and serves as the department subject matter expert for inventory operations.
  • Senior Logistics Specialist: Leads inventory excellence across multiple areas. Supports the onboarding, training, and development of Logistics Associates and Specialists. Coaches operational best practices, drives process consistency, and partners with leadership to improve inventory accuracy, productivity, and team capability.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Engagement & Sales:
    • Build authentic relationships by asking thoughtful questions to understand each customer’s needs, preferences, and project goals.
    • Support customers through the full shopping experience—from inspiration to purchase—reducing friction and creating clarity.
    • Approach every interaction as an opportunity to provide excellent deals and showcase the best products.
  • Accurate Pricing and Signage:
    • Improve the shopper journey by ensuring all products and prices are correctly represented via electronic shelf labels (ESLs), brand-specific displays, and functional or promotional signage.
  • Inventory Accuracy & Control:
    • Conduct daily audits and maintain a robust Cycle Count Program to protect inventory integrity.
    • Utilize scanning technology to track carton-level details including quantity, condition, and location.
    • Monitor inventory discrepancies to ensure system and physical inventory alignment.
    • Label all inventory accurately.
  • Inventory Operations:
    • Monitor aging inventory, process markdowns, and coordinate vendor returns for recalls.
    • Receive and Process Shipments: Unload and receive inventory carefully, including manual handling of large and heavy items.
    • Accurately document overages, shortages, damages, and inventory exceptions during receiving and processing activities.
    • Support efficient inventory flow between the stockroom and sales floor operations.
  • Systems & Auditing:
    • Process incoming shipping to ensure accuracy.
    • Use ticketing systems to manage operational exceptions and support issue resolution.
    • Identify trends, process gaps, and opportunities for operational improvements based on frontline observations.
  • Operational Excellence & Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with logistics leaders, retail teams, and operational partners to streamline processes and maintain Wayfair’s operational standards.
    • Adapt quickly to changing business needs and take ownership of inventory-related challenges in a fast-moving environment.
    • Support store operations as needed, including replenishment, organization, and back-of-house tasks.
    • Demonstrate reliability by maintaining punctual attendance and proactively communicating operational concerns or unexpected issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 to 3 years of inventory control experience, preferably in retail.
  • 1+ year in distribution or logistics is preferred.
  • Can read and understand English; strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving with a focus on detail orientation.
  • Technical proficiency (Microsoft Office or Google Suite preferred).
  • Schedule flexibility (expected to work nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs (ability to lift independently on a regular basis).
