Logistics Senior Specialist

About the Role

The Supply Chain Operations Department oversees, standardizes, and provides technical leadership for internal material handling operations at Honda’s automobile powertrain and final assembly sites across North America. The Logistics Sr Specialist will support and understand how Supply Chain Operations integrates with multiple manufacturing functions—Assembly, Bumper Paint, Paint, Weld, and suppliers—and will serve as the primary liaison between Honda and contracted logistics companies, addressing production issues and ensuring operational continuity.

Responsibilities

• Primary point of contact for Supply Chain Operations and all contracted logistics companies on site, including all communication between third-party logistics (3PL) providers and Honda regarding production information and issue resolution.
• Support resolution of lineside delivery calls, impacts, short-part crises, and other production issues.
• Provide operations service support for Supply Chain Operations, coordinating with departments to meet monthly on-time delivery targets.
• Manage and coordinate the daily shift report, summarizing SQCDME (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, Environment) impact items and follow-up activities for the next shift.
• Coordinate initial root cause analysis for all impact items and serve as the Supply Chain Operations representative in daily plant meetings.
• Communicate effectively with contracted logistics companies and other service providers.
• Support intercompany logistics daily activity and changepoints, coordinate daily orders, and ensure shipments go out as scheduled.
• Work with shipping teams to prevent line-down situations and manage critical transportation decisions, including expedites and part inventories.
• Make decisions on line downtime root cause analysis, late part deliveries, and whether to shut down lines or run parts past process for later repair.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent related experience.
• Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience based on education.

Skills

• Effective communication capabilities, including the ability to summarize problems for a cross-functional audience.
• Broad understanding of parts flow, logistics, delivery systems, and manufacturing flow.
• Comfortable providing direction to team members and internal customers, and taking on leadership roles as needed.
• Project management experience or capability, including leading meetings and unit-level themes.
• Strong presentation skills and ability to multi-task.
• Reliable, flexible, and adaptable to changing priorities.

Job Dimensions

• No direct reports.
• 8 indirect reports (CLC Leadership).

Working Conditions

• Mixture of open office environment and warehouse/production floor.
• Estimated overtime: 5 hours per week, including select Saturdays when production occurs.
• No travel requirements.
