Logistics Process Engineer

About the role

The Logistics Process Engineer will manage the implementation of new processes, material flow strategies, and equipment selection. They will work closely with inventory control and operations teams to address root causes of inventory inaccuracies. This role involves optimizing warehouse and floor storage utilization, developing standardized work, and improving labor utilization through method study and job restructuring.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the operating environment to identify process inefficiencies and wastes.
• Conduct studies, perform analysis, conceptualize improvements, and develop business cases.
• Develop and evaluate pilot programs, simulations, and prototypes to implement new and enhanced processes and tools.
• Drive an analytical process focused on developing improved tools and systems to simplify processes, improve space and labor utilization, and increase inventory accuracy.
• Manage the implementation of new processes, material flow strategies, selection of equipment to be purchased, and time estimates.
• Optimize utilization of current warehouses and floor storage.
• Owes project management of internal and external resources to improve operations.
• Aid in the development of standardized work and guide the implementation of PFEP (Plan for every part) and other models.
• Interface with operations, quality, safety, procurement, and NPI teams to improve processes.
• Improve labor utilization by studying work methods, testing modifications, designing new methods, and recommending job restructuring.
• Develop and improve IT tools and systems to simplify processes and improve accuracy.
• Improve workflow by studying process flow charts, recommending modifications in workflow, workstations, and product, and developing new procedures.
• Reduce waste by studying methods, equipment, and operator techniques, recommending changes, and identifying and analyzing waste.
• Prepare work-analysis information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Train and guide operators and supervisors to complete work improvement projects.
• Maintain operations guidelines by writing and updating policies, procedures, and methods.
• Champion Kaizen events within and outside of the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 3-5+ years of high-volume manufacturing experience, preferably in an automotive environment.

Qualifications

While not strictly required, candidates with experience in logistics, supply chain management, or manufacturing are preferred. Knowledge of Lean principles and methodologies is beneficial.

Pay

Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Alamance, NC.
