About the role

The Logistics Manager plans and directs operations to improve productivity and efficiency. This role provides leadership and direction to dispatch staff, company drivers, and owner operators while overseeing communication functions to ensure economical utilization of vehicle facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the daily fleet operation.
  • Develop policies, programs, and procedures for efficient transportation systems and terminals.
  • Set schedules, routes, and assign drivers and vehicles.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for operational information, including store delivery services, issues, backhaul information, driver scheduling/availability, and driver concerns.
  • Recommend development of compliance with transportation policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct continuous analysis of vehicle and driver schedules to increase efficiency and lower costs.
  • Review and analyze reports such as revenue and performance records to evaluate productivity and recommend changes.
  • Recruit, orient, train, and monitor progression of new drivers.
  • Monitor turnover, evaluate operation mileage, equipment, time off, and pay; make recommendations and establish programs to minimize turnover.
  • Enforce compliance and administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations (e.g., logs, equipment condition).
  • Direct operation and maintenance of equipment and communication systems; review procedures; provide guidance to resolve technical problems; analyze costs and recommend cost control measures; develop plans, policies, and budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain preferred.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience managing and leading direct reports.
  • Excellent knowledge of Transportation and/or Warehouse Logistics operations (advanced level required).
  • Excellent knowledge of safety and security requirements (advanced level required).
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Word required).
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule across various shifts.
  • DOT Regulated: No.

Pay

Salaried position with a pay range of $75,000 – $85,000 annually. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on role and performance.
