About the role
The Inventory Control Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient management of inventory within Kuehne+Nagel’s distribution centers. This position oversees physical inventory, sets and analyzes standards, and monitors key performance indicators to prevent financial surprises. The role also involves coaching staff, leading projects to enhance inventory processes, and maintaining a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise all associates handling inventory management functions.
- Manage internal inventory control processes and handle exceptions effectively.
- Work with department managers to identify and address key projects and initiatives.
- Lead and direct regular efforts to verify inventory.
- Lead, facilitate, and oversee the execution of daily inventory policies, procedures, analysis, and reporting to meet facility inventory metrics.
- Establish best practice inventory measures, including tracking, reporting, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with security to enforce loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Create efficient and accurate inventory management procedures.
- Conduct assessments of procedures to drive continuous improvement and maintain best-in-class status.
- Reconcile inventories and coordinate annual physical inventory procedures.
- Plan and implement a recovery program to ensure all defective product is accounted for and handled properly.
- Manage inventory quality and accuracy assurance programs, including weekly and monthly reports.
- Develop a program to audit returns and move returned product to its proper location.
- Ensure the department maintains accurate records to facilitate shortage detection.
- Develop necessary reports and documentation to facilitate accurate inventory counts.
- Ensure all weekly and monthly reports are delivered accurately and on time.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Inventory control experience in a distribution center or high-volume 3rd party warehouse or cross-dock.
- 2 years of WMS experience required (SAP experience preferred).
- ISO 9000+ related experience preferred.
- Strong process documentation, procedure, and quality background.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Ability to establish priorities, multitask, and be detail-oriented.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field and/or 5 years of previous Inventory Control management experience.
Skills
