Job Summary
The Logistics Coordinator acts as a liaison between the customer service team, freight carriers, and Bay Cities Logistics Team. They ensure daily updates for items at Coastal/Packout facilities, coordinate farm-outs, and manage inventory and scheduling changes.
Job Function
- Ensures daily updates for items at Coastal/Packout facilities and follows up on stock and pallets needed.
- Schedules common carriers and "will calls" with the BCL Team or carriers.
- Coordinates farm-out items by creating checklists.
- Sends, updates, and tracks information required by the Shipping Department.
- Obtains quotes/rates for outside freight as needed.
- Maintains and adjusts the internal shipping schedule and warehouse inventory.
- Sets up delivery appointments as needed.
- Maintains OpenDock operations.
Requirements
- Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent, preferably supplemented by relevant coursework or training in supervision.
- Experience: 2-3 years of considerable experience in shipping, warehousing, and inventory control.
- Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of computers.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the corrugated industry, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehousing practices, especially in Greater Los Angeles area.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate with internal production and customer service personnel.
- Time Management: Ability to work extended and variable hours, including different shifts.
- Driving License: Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Forklift certification.
Work Environment
You will be working at the main headquarters, spending approximately 70% of your time in an office, 10% in meetings, and 20% on the manufacturing and distribution floor. You will collaborate with various teams within the organization and work in a team-oriented, results-driven environment.
