Role Overview
This inpatient Nurse Practitioner position involves providing cardiothoracic and vascular surgery coverage on a day shift, with required call duties and weekend call averaging approximately 10 hours. The NP will manage post-operative care, emergency interventions, consults, and referrals from various hospital departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform post-operative and emergency surgical care for adult cardiothoracic and vascular patients
- Assist in surgeries, including vein harvesting and vascular tissue retrieval
- Coordinate patient care, conduct rounds, prescribe medications, and order/interpret diagnostic tests
- Manage consults from emergency, Cath Lab, and other clinicians
Qualifications & Skills
- Board certification required
- Proficiency in vein harvesting and vascular tissue retrieval
- Prescriptive authority necessary
- Experience in inpatient surgical settings preferred
Additional Details
- Patient load of 20-26 adults daily
- On-site location with hospital resources
- Call responsibilities during assignment with weekend hours
