About the role
This position performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of district facilities and equipment. Work involves a variety of skilled trades tasks including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance. Work is performed under general supervision with limited direction.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled maintenance, repair, and installation work in one or more of the skilled trades areas including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and masonry.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots facility and equipment problems and determines appropriate repair methods.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment used in the skilled trades.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems according to established schedules.
- Maintains records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on jobs.
- Responds to emergency maintenance calls and makes repairs as needed.
- Assists in training and providing work direction to lower-level maintenance staff.
- Ensures work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and district policies.
- Performs other duties related to the position as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of experience in general building maintenance and repair work in one or more of the skilled trades areas.
- Possession of a valid driver's license that allows the applicant/employee to legally operate a motor vehicle in Nevada.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, appropriate certification(s) as required by position assignment (e.g., EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification for HVAC work).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the skilled building trades.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building trades.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations.
- Skill in the use and care of hand and power tools and equipment.
- Skill in diagnosing and repairing facility and equipment problems.
Pay
Salary range: $22.61 - $33.92 per hour
Schedule
12 months per year, 8 hours per day
