Local Contract Occupational Therapist - $55-60 per hour

About the role

The Occupational Therapist will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The in-home setting could be a patient's private residence or in a patient's room in an independent living facility. This position allows the Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat in the most functional environment—the patient's home. The role provides a flexible schedule and work environment in various settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, including clinical and billing documentation requirements, as well as work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
• Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to the needs of individual patients.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary.
• Maintain, clean, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring patients and families receive high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures.
• Synthesize information and interpret examination findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine the predicted level of improvement and time required.
• Identify precautions, contraindications, and design a plan of care in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
• Implement the occupational therapy treatment plan and complete all related documentation and record keeping.

• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential.

Requirements

• Valid Occupational Therapy license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility.
• Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences.

• Duration: 13 weeks
• 40 hours per week
• Shift: 8 hours, days (08:00 AM - 04:30 PM)
• Minimum guarantee: 40 hours
