About the role

Tri Pointe Connect, the mortgage affiliate of Tri Pointe Homes, is seeking an experienced Loan Officer to join our team in Orange County. This role is responsible for building and growing local relationships with Tri Pointe Homes’ New Home Advisors in each community, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements for FHA, VA, and Conventional Loans. The position is located on-site with the builder partner and involves attending and participating in meetings with New Home Advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze each customer's financial information to assess loan qualification in conformity with company policies, procedures, and applicable law.
  • Advise potential borrowers on the risks, benefits, options, and variables of loan alternatives to best meet their needs.
  • Discuss available loan products tailored to individual circumstances.
  • Ascertain and obtain all pertinent documentation to ensure loan approval, verifying supporting documentation matches information in the Loan Origination System (LOS).
  • Communicate effectively and manage relationships with homebuyers, New Home Advisors, Processing, Underwriting, Closing, title companies, and builder partners.
  • Perform the Rate Lock function, negotiating interest rates within branch pricing parameters.
  • Manage personal production to ensure timely and appropriate closings.
  • Meet or exceed company benchmarks established by leadership.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and exceptional customer service in all interactions.
  • Attend weekly meetings as required.
  • Use Automated Underwriting Systems and submit loans to the Underwriting department.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of loan origination based on state, federal, and investor guidelines.
  • Stay current with all products, attend continuing education classes, and pass required state/national exams.
  • Support mortgage-related training initiatives within Tri Pointe Connect and Tri Pointe Homes teams.
  • Take on new responsibilities and duties as directed by leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of processing or origination experience, preferably within a builder environment.
  • Active NMLS MLO State license.

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage products, including FHA, VA, and Conventional loans.
  • Working knowledge of loan origination systems (Encompass preferred).
  • Familiarity with automated underwriting systems.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products.
  • Proven ability to build strong business relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, both in-person and virtually.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong pipeline management skills.
  • Deadline-driven with strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary for extended periods (4+ hours per day).
  • Frequent repetitive hand use (typing/computer work).
  • Auditory ability to communicate in person, on calls, or in meetings.
  • Visual acuity for reading documents and computer work.
  • Occasional standing and walking.

Pay

The expected base salary range for this position is $16.90 per hour ($35,152.00 per year), depending on experience and skillset. Base salary is paid bi-weekly. This position is also eligible for commission payments and a monthly bonus, calculated and paid in accordance with the company’s compensation agreement.
