Loan Closing Processor

About the role

Assist in the documentation process for the Bank’s loan documents. Review closing packages including Lease and Letters of Credit requests prepared within the department. Track Community Reinvestment Act Data for all loans. Support Commercial, Private Bankers, Small Business Bankers, and Retail Officers and their support staff in performing and collecting all due diligence items on loans. Assist the Loan Closing Manager with special projects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process all related loan documents, ensuring accurate collateral security by collaborating with Lenders and their support staff to obtain necessary information in compliance with loan policy, credit approvals, and regulatory laws.
• Track CRA and HMDA data using the Bank’s documentation software.
• Answer questions via telephone or email regarding proper closing procedures and due diligence.
• Perform closing quality reviews of loans prepared by employees and teammates within the department, identifying missing items or errors using the Bank’s Documentation Checklist to prevent and eliminate policy and regulatory documentation exceptions.
• Organize electronic loan files pre-closing, manage vendor orders, and obtain good standing verifications from applicable Secretary of State for every business/commercial loan documented.
• Complete continuing education and training through the Bank’s computer-based training classes and other assigned seminars.
• Review legal work from attorneys for Lenders and Flood Certification to ensure compliance.
• Perform UCC searches.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year’s banking experience with Stock Yards Bank within the Commercial Loan Documentation Department.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to write and speak effectively.
• Productive team player with the ability to learn, apply training, and comprehend policies and procedures.
• Flexibility in changing work situations and ability to meet deadlines.
• Typing speed of 50 wpm.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Comfortable working toward deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on a team atmosphere and high level of customer service for lenders and their support staff.
• Dependability with a follow-through attitude.
• Specialized knowledge of HMDA, CRA, Reg O, Reg U, and Articles 5 & 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.

Working Conditions

• Primarily sedentary work performed in an office environment.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
• Ability to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with clients, team members, and vendors via phone, video, and in person.
• Visual acuity sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents, and financial data.
• Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds occasionally (e.g., files, office supplies).
