Loader Operator (Asphalt Plant)
Responsibilities
This non-exempt position operates a front-end loader and other heavy equipment in support of asphalt plant operations. The Front Loader Operator is responsible for:
- Safely and efficiently handling raw materials
- Maintaining adequate stockpile inventories
- Loading cold feed bins
- Supporting plant production activities
- Daily maintenance, inspection, and upkeep of equipment
- Discussing plans for the day's work with the field manager
- Reviewing blueprints if necessary and determining the best method to complete assigned work safely, accurately, and on time
- Adjusting hand levers and depressing pedals to operate equipment and control attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms
- Performing equipment maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines
- Operating equipment with a priority on safety for all persons working around the equipment
- Ensuring other workers stay clear of the machine while working in tight places
- Promoting teamwork between self and other operators at the project site
- Making judgments regarding the most efficient operations of equipment and attachments

Qualifications
Experience & Education/Certification:
- Minimum of 2 years operating a front-end loader or similar equipment operating experience required
- Valid driver’s license required
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) a plus
- Related work experience required
- Must be able to work day and night shift as needed
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Very good hand, foot, and eye coordination to safely operate equipment
- Ability to operate for extended periods and get into awkward positions when cleaning and maintaining equipment
- Extensive and heavy physical activity and dexterity required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Excellent communication (written/verbal) and time management skills
- Specific types of vision required: close, color, peripheral
