About the role

The loader operator moves, loads, and handles materials in the terminal area using heavy equipment such as front-end loaders. The primary responsibility is to safely and efficiently operate machinery to load and move aggregate and related materials for asphalt plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment to move, load, and unload materials in asphalt production.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate, and refill machinery.
  • Assist the Plant Manager and/or Plant Foreman in coordinating materials handling and equipment usage.
  • Operate general construction equipment at the plant after receiving training.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as instructed, including manual labor and plant upkeep.
  • Keep records and provide oral or written reports.
  • Adhere to traffic and safety rules while operating heavy equipment.
  • Work long hours outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Assist with other assigned manual labor tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience in public works maintenance and/or construction, including one year operating a variety of heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, safety practices, and maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, stooping, and squatting.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, hearing, writing, and vision).
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work outdoors in varying conditions.
