About the role
Butler Snow LLP, Ridgeland office seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join a supportive, on-site culture that provides top-tier client representation.
Responsibilities
- Draft correspondence including pleadings, discovery, motions, orders, and notices.
- Schedule and maintain case calendars.
- Research complex issues using Westlaw or Lexis Nexis.
- Investigate legal matters including fact checking, witness interviews, and summarization.
- Manage document production and trial preparation, including notebooks, exhibits, and case law cite checks.
- File pleadings, motions, and through ECF or conventionally in the county courts.
- Review and summarize depositions, medical records, and other documents.
- Manage, oversee, and prepare large document productions (several thousand pages).
- Sort, index, categorize, order, manipulate, and organize documents/data, including summarizing medical records, deposition transcripts, and discovery responses.
- Manage logistical details of preparing for a trial, such as numbering exhibits and tracking court dates and filing deadlines.
- Act as a liaison between clients, experts, vendors, opposing counsel, and other parties in litigation or transactions.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other professionals to achieve firm goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by attorneys or the Director of Practice Support.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience.
- Trial experience.
- Paralegal certificate or undergraduate degree from an accredited paralegal program is desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience capturing and recording billable time.
- High degree of detail and client focus.
- Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
- Drive and personal initiative.
Qualifications
