About the role

Butler Snow LLP, Ridgeland office seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join a supportive, on-site culture that provides top-tier client representation.

Responsibilities

  • Draft correspondence including pleadings, discovery, motions, orders, and notices.
  • Schedule and maintain case calendars.
  • Research complex issues using Westlaw or Lexis Nexis.
  • Investigate legal matters including fact checking, witness interviews, and summarization.
  • Manage document production and trial preparation, including notebooks, exhibits, and case law cite checks.
  • File pleadings, motions, and through ECF or conventionally in the county courts.
  • Review and summarize depositions, medical records, and other documents.
  • Manage, oversee, and prepare large document productions (several thousand pages).
  • Sort, index, categorize, order, manipulate, and organize documents/data, including summarizing medical records, deposition transcripts, and discovery responses.
  • Manage logistical details of preparing for a trial, such as numbering exhibits and tracking court dates and filing deadlines.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, experts, vendors, opposing counsel, and other parties in litigation or transactions.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other professionals to achieve firm goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by attorneys or the Director of Practice Support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience.
  • Trial experience.
  • Paralegal certificate or undergraduate degree from an accredited paralegal program is desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience capturing and recording billable time.
  • High degree of detail and client focus.
  • Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
  • Drive and personal initiative.

Qualifications
