Litigation Paralegal
About the role
Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP is a law firm with over 300 attorneys serving clients across the U.S. and internationally. The firm is known for its busy Litigation practice, particularly in asbestos defense. The Columbus office is seeking a litigation paralegal with experience in handling asbestos defense cases.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple litigation dockets
- Operate in various databases for case tracking and document discovery
- Prepare responsive and dispositive pleadings
- Conduct fact research
- Collect, process, and produce documents through internal litigation support and external vendors
- Request, organize, and review employment and medical records
- Aid in preparing attorneys and witnesses for depositions
- Support filings, hearings, trials, and appeals
- Attend trials, hearings, and court proceedings
Requirements
- Understanding of legal terminology and principles
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and litigation discovery databases (ProLaw, Everlaw, Relativity)
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Attention to detail
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 4 years of law firm experience
Skills
- Technical competency with MS Office applications
- Experience with litigation discovery databases
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization abilities
- Proven attention to detail
Benefits
The firm offers a competitive compensation package with an hourly rate ranging from $31.79 to $38.46, with an approximate annualized equivalent of $62,000 to $75,000.
