Position Summary
The Litigation Paralegal supports attorneys in all phases of litigation, from case inception through discovery, trial preparation, and resolution.
Responsibilities
- Manage discovery and electronic discovery processes
- Draft and respond to pleadings and discovery
- Prepare deposition and trial materials
- Conduct legal and factual research
- Support trial and deposition preparation
- Exercise sound judgment and analytical skills
- Manage multiple concurrent matters and projects
- Create, maintain, and oversee client files and records
- Maintain an active caseload and meet billable expectations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification
- Minimum of five (5) years in a prior litigation paralegal role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with legal and web-based applications
- Knowledge of eDiscovery principles and Electronically Stored Information (ESI)
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
- Flexible and responsive to attorney and client needs
Physical Demands
- Read from hard-copy paper and computer screen
- Sit, talk, hear, use wrist, hands, and fingers repetitively to type, write, operate computer and other office equipment/machinery
- Occasionally move about the office to visit and meet with others and/or attend meetings, access file cabinets, use office machinery, etc.
- Stationary sitting position 90% of the time working on a computer
- Bend and lift items less than 25 lbs
