Position Summary

The Litigation Paralegal supports attorneys across all phases of litigation, from case inception through discovery, trial preparation, and resolution. They manage discovery and electronic discovery, draft and respond to pleadings and discovery, prepare deposition and trial materials, conduct legal and factual research, and coordinate with attorneys, clients, courts, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive paralegal support for litigation matters from case inception through discovery, trial preparation, and resolution
  • Manage all aspects of discovery and electronic discovery, including legal holds, custodian interviews, ESI preservation, collection, processing, review, production, and privilege logs
  • Prepare, manage, and supervise large-scale document reviews and productions, including database setup, data organization and culling, advanced search queries, and overall case database management
  • Draft and edit litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses, deposition notices, expert discovery notices, and related correspondence
  • Prepare and summarize discovery materials, including document summaries, deposition summaries, interrogatories, requests for admission, and subpoenaed records
  • Support trial and deposition preparation, including witness preparation, trial binders, exhibit management, coordination with trial vendors, court personnel, and courtroom technology support
  • Conduct legal, procedural, and factual research and assist with investigations as directed by attorneys, applying advanced knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and litigation procedures
  • Exercise sound judgment and analytical skills to assess issues, identify alternatives, and proactively recommend solutions to enhance work product and case outcomes
  • Manage multiple concurrent matters and projects, prioritizing effectively and adapting procedures to meet case and client needs
  • Apply and promote technology solutions to improve efficiency, including case management systems, review platforms, and other litigation support tools
  • Collaborate extensively with attorneys, clients, co-counsel, vendors, IT, court personnel, and other stakeholders, maintaining strong working relationships and client service standards
  • Create, maintain, and oversee client files and records, ensuring accurate organization, documentation, and compliance with firm standards
  • Maintain an active caseload and meet billable expectations, complying with administrative and timekeeping requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification after completing an ABA approved program
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a prior litigation paralegal role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong grammar, spelling, and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with or without direct supervision
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills, with a high degree of diligence, accuracy, and quality control
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team-oriented environment; maintains a positive, professional, and solution-focused approach under pressure
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat, with strong document formatting skills
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and experience working with a wide range of legal and web-based applications, including document management, billing, and case management systems such as NetDocuments and Elite
  • Strong knowledge of eDiscovery principles and Electronically Stored Information (ESI), including load files, review platforms, and trial management software
  • Experience researching and complying with local, state, and federal court rules, including e-filing procedures in multiple jurisdictions
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Flexible and responsive to the needs of attorneys and client matters, including availability for overtime as required

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to read from hard-copy paper and computer screen, sit, talk, hear, use wrist, hands, and fingers repetitively to type, write, operate computer and other office equipment/machinery, handle and grasp paper and other office objects. Additionally, the person in this position will remain in a stationary sitting position 90% of the time working on a computer; occasionally moving about our office to visit and meet with others and/or attend meetings, access file cabinets, use office machinery, etc., which will require bending and lifting of items less than 25 lbs. The typical office environment is of moderate noise level, an indoor temperate environment, and light levels that are bright and conducive to minimal eye strain. Little to no travel is expected for this position.
