Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal (Labor & Employment)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain attorney calendars and coordinate court appearances, hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, client meetings, conferences, and travel, while monitoring critical deadlines and filing requirements
  • File documents electronically with state and federal courts
  • Complete and submit conflict check and new client matter forms
  • Perform administrative tasks such as time entry, expense reporting, and billing
  • Maintain all client matter files and documents within iManage
  • Represent attorneys by communicating and obtaining information, following up on delegated assignments, and exercising sound judgment regarding matters requiring attorney attention
  • Courtroom support: Coordinate and schedule couriers, court reporters, and expert witnesses
  • Communicate with various internal departments and outside vendors
  • Send, receive, and manage attorney email and facsimile communications, as needed
  • Read, sort, and distribute incoming mail; prepare and process outgoing mail in accordance with office procedures, coordinating special delivery services when necessary
  • Photocopy, scan, assemble, and distribute documents and binders as required
  • Additional duties as needed, including assisting other paralegals and secretaries

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience supporting attorneys within labor & employment litigation, and experience doing wage/hour analysis
  • Experience supporting a minimum of three attorneys including partner level attorneys
  • Paralegal certificate required. Alternatively, qualifications outlined under California Business and Professions Code §§ 6450–6456 may be considered
  • Advanced Excel skills are required
  • Extensive experience with e-discovery and other litigation software, including CaseMap, TextMap, Relativity or iConnect, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Sanction or Trial Director
  • Knowledge of federal and state court filing procedures including e-filing requirements
  • Familiarity with document management systems and time entry software
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Superior attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong client focus
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently, and anticipate attorney needs
  • Trial preparation and in-court experience is a plus

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred

Benefits

  • Flexible work arrangements may be available after 90 days, with four (4) days in the office and one (1) day remote
  • Competitive salary range: $89,000 - $100,000 (based upon years of experience)
