Litigation Counsel
About the role
Litigation Counsel to support general litigation, including affirmative litigation and government investigations for the UHS Corporate Legal Department. This role has a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office and 2 days flex-remote.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and settlement discussions
- Investigate and assess potential class action litigation to be asserted on behalf of the company and work closely with outside counsel in all phases of such litigation
- Respond to government investigations involving state and federal agencies
- Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on litigation risk, dispute resolution, and the impact of litigation on business operations
- Partner with internal teams such as compliance, finance, revenue cycle, operations, insurance, and risk management to develop litigation strategies that align with business objectives
Requirements
- Law degree with 3 - 5 years' experience in commercial litigation
- Experience with the healthcare industry or with medical providers preferred, but not required
- Must be admitted into the state bar or have in-house counsel license
