Litigation Associate (Junior-Level)
Responsibilities
- Assisting with employment and commercial litigation matters from inception through trial, arbitration, settlement, or other resolution
- Handling single-plaintiff employment claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour issues, and other employment-related disputes
- Defending employers in wage and hour class actions and collective actions, including matters brought under California law and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
- Preparing responsive pleadings, dispositive motions, motions for class certification, motions to compel arbitration, summary judgment motions, and other substantive motions
- Proposing and responding to written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
- Conducting and defending depositions of plaintiffs, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts
- Attending and arguing court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences
- Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda, briefs, and client advisories
- Assisting employers with day-to-day employment counseling, including workplace policies, employee discipline, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, accommodations, and termination decisions
- Conducting and assisting with workplace investigations involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, misconduct, and other employment-related issues
- Collaborating directly with clients to develop litigation and risk-management strategies
- Trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, drafting motions in limine, jury instructions, and trial briefs
Qualifications
- 2-4 years in civil and commercial litigation
- Significant experience representing employers in employment litigation matters
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Must be licensed in California
- Experience in both California state and federal court proceedings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word
- Strong legal research and technical writing skills, including proficiency with legal research tools (WestLaw)
- Strong academic and employment credentials
- Excellent analytical, writing, research, negotiation, oral advocacy, and general communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and client-service interaction skills
- Able to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
- Proven track record of performance and professional excellence

Pay
Salary Range: $125,000+; Salary commensurate with expertise & previous experience; discretionary bonuses
