Our Banking & Creditors' Rights team represents local, regional, and national banks, credit unions, lenders, and businesses throughout New York, handling commercial lending disputes, collections, foreclosures, workouts, and bankruptcy matters. About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Litigation Associate to join our thriving legal team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in bankruptcy, banking, creditors' rights, collections, collections litigation, loan enforcement, referee proceedings, foreclosure litigation, courtroom proceedings, credit union operations, and bank law.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-volume litigation caseload on behalf of banks, credit unions, and other financial institution clients.
  • Represent clients in litigation involving loan enforcement, creditors' rights, foreclosure, bankruptcy, workouts, evictions, and collections.
  • Appear in court regularly (2-3x/week in person or virtually) for motion arguments, court conferences, foreclosure settlement conferences, eviction hearings, and small claims proceedings.
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Provide legal advice to clients on matters related to banking, credit union operations, and bank law.
  • Develop litigation strategy, negotiate settlements and workout agreements.
  • Manage delinquent loans, lines of credit, credit cards, auto loans, foreclosures, and evictions for bank and credit union clients.
  • Communicate proactively with clients and collaborate with partners and support staff.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the NY state bar.
  • 1-3 years of litigation experience required (experience in bankruptcy, banking, creditors' rights, collections, collections litigation, loan enforcement, referee proceedings, foreclosure litigation, courtroom proceedings, credit union operations, and bank law preferred).
  • Excellent negotiation, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong research and report writing skills.
  • Ability to manage high-volume caseloads and work under pressure.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Pay

$100,000 - $125,000 per year
