Litigation Associate
Squire Patton Boggs is seeking a junior to mid-level Associate to join any of our U.S. offices, with a particular preference in the Miami or Cincinnati offices. Experience with healthcare/managed care litigation is a plus but not required.
About the role
The individual hired for this position will be responsible for handling most aspects of litigation, including:
- Drafting pleadings and motions
- Legal research
- Arguing hearings
- Managing discovery requests and responses
- Taking and defending depositions
- Assisting with trial preparations and trial
Requirements
- 2-6 years of experience at a top-tier firm and/or judicial clerkship
- Admission to the Florida Bar
- JD from an accredited law school and a strong academic record
- Excellent credentials
Skills
- Experience with healthcare/managed care litigation a plus, but not required
- Significant and exceptional writing experience/skills
- Legal research, drafting legal documents, conducting discovery, coordinating with local counsel, and generally defending against litigation
- Excellent research and organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Courtroom and deposition experience preferred but not required
- More senior candidates should have substantial experience managing the various aspects of a commercial lawsuit from start to finish
- More junior candidates should have an exceptional academic record
- Must be a self-starter, have the ability to prioritize workload, display good judgment, and work well under pressure
