Litigation Associate

About the role

Squire Patton Boggs is seeking a junior to mid-level Associate to join any of our U.S. offices, with a particular preference in the Miami or Cincinnati offices. Experience with healthcare/managed care litigation is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handling most aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings and motions;
• Conducting legal research;
• Arguing hearings;
• Managing discovery requests and responses;
• Taking and defending depositions;
• Assisting with trial preparations and trial.

Qualifications

• 2-6 years of experience at a top-tier firm and/or judicial clerkship;
• Admission to the Florida Bar;
• Possess a JD from an accredited law school and a strong academic record;
• Excellent credentials;
• Experience with healthcare/managed care litigation a plus, but not a requirement;
• Significant and exceptional writing experience/skills;
• Legal research, drafting legal documents, conducting discovery, coordinating with local counsel, and generally defending against litigation;
• Excellent research and organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication abilities;
• Courtroom and deposition experience preferred but not required.

Skills & Experience

• More senior candidates should have substantial experience managing the various aspects of a commercial lawsuit from start to finish.
• More junior candidates should have an exceptional academic record.
• Must be a self-starter, have the ability to prioritize workload, display good judgment, and work well under pressure.
