Litigation Associate

About the role

A well-established law firm in the Northern Virginia market provides sophisticated legal counsel to businesses, organizations, and individuals across a range of practice areas. The litigation team handles business disputes and complex legal matters with a practical, client-focused approach. Attorneys have the opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced colleagues while helping clients navigate challenging disputes and protect their business interests.

Responsibilities

• Handle substantive aspects of commercial litigation and business disputes from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Manage discovery, including document production, written discovery, and discovery-related disputes.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial-related proceedings.
• Develop case strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys and other members of the litigation team.
• Communicate with clients regarding case developments, litigation strategy, and potential outcomes.
• Manage case deadlines, coordinate litigation activities, and maintain high-quality work product.
• Assist with settlement negotiations and other dispute-resolution efforts as appropriate.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active Virginia Bar membership in good standing.
• Approximately five or more years of litigation experience, ideally involving commercial litigation, business disputes, or complex civil matters.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience with pleadings, motion practice, discovery, depositions, and litigation strategy.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Maryland and/or DC Bar admission is a plus.

Pay

Salary: $140,000 - $180,000 per year
