About the role

The City of Watertown seeks a Lineworker I to join their team. This position is the second level of the Electrical series and involves leading a crew in constructing and maintaining electrical, communication, and traffic systems.

Responsibilities

• Installing new systems
• Responding to and troubleshooting issues and problems with systems
• Performing preventative maintenance as scheduled
• Assisting with electrical and communication needs or special events
• Working independently and/or providing work direction onsite, overseeing events at assigned locations
• Interacting with the public to solve problems and ensure questions are answered
• Providing training for subordinate staff

Qualifications

• Either Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate's Degree or higher and 5 years of experience in electrical or communication installation and/or electrical system maintenance
• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and 7 years of experience in electrical or communication installation and/or electrical system maintenance

Special Necessary Requirement

Must be a Journeyman in the Electrical field or obtain a Journeyman status within 2 years of employment.
