Line Producer - Breaking News, MS NOW

About the role

MS NOW is seeking producers to join its expanding breaking news team. This role covers the network during overnight hours and produces taped packages for Morning Joe. The team also creates highlights for weekend playback and assists in digital growth.

Responsibilities

• Build show rundowns for breaking news coverage during MS NOW's tape hours
• Work under deadline pressure to create and vet show content
• Manage control room during breaking news, including changes to rundowns and coordinating with talent in the field
• Collaborate with segment producers to create live segments
• Contribute to the oversight of original news packages for Morning Joe
• Deliver taped shows to master control
• Aid the social media team in monitoring and creating social media content
• Fill in for Senior Producer as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of experience in live television
• At least 1 year of line producing experience
• Editorial experience in a fast-paced news room environment
• Ability to anticipate and respond quickly to change
• Story-first journalism approach

• Possess ability to develop story ideas, research, and plan segments
• Exceptional editorial skills: Recognize stories with high potential for provocative, compelling television
• Knowledge of current events, politics, and pop culture
• Wide-ranging reader of news
• Strong writing skills
• Expert tease writer
• Experience in Breaking News

Benefits

This position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and various discounts and perks. Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000.
