About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Logistics Specialist to oversee end-to-end movement of raw materials and finished goods for both domestic and international shipping operations. This role ensures maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery across all transportation modes, with a focus on LTL, FTL, LCL, FCL, and small parcel logistics.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard high-quality carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL providers to support manufacturing demands.
• Establish and track carrier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, billing accuracy, and damage rates.
• Lead RFPs and negotiate competitive freight rates, service level agreements (SLAs), and capacity commitments.
• Optimize and route shipments utilizing Less-than-Truckload (LTL), Full Truckload (FTL), and Less-than-Container Load (LCL) for international ocean/air freight.
• Manage specialized logistics for oversized or out-of-gauge shipments, including knowledge of permits, escorts, and route surveys.
• Proactively identify potential supply chain disruptions (e.g., port congestion, capacity crunches) and implement contingency plans to maintain production schedules.
• Act as the central point of contact between Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, and Customer Service to provide real-time tracking updates and resolve transit delays.
• Translate logistics data into actionable, high-level summaries and reports for executive leadership.
• Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, customs regulations, and international trade laws.
• Audit freight invoices, resolve billing discrepancies, and manage the logistics budget to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of progressive logistics/transportation experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven, hands-on experience managing LTL, FTL, LCL, and oversized shipments.
• Strong background in carrier negotiation, contract management, supervisory skills, and relationship building.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with vendors and present logistics strategies to executives.
• Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and advanced Excel.
