Lighting Design Consultant

About the role

The Lighting Design Consultant at Mahlander’s is a key member of the sales team responsible for providing design service to both walk-in and trade customers. With a strong focus on customer service and project management, this role requires a combination of design expertise and sales skills.

Responsibilities

• Helping customers bring their vision to life by coordinating lighting items with the desired style and other elements in the space
• Assisting customers in the showroom and online with product selection
• Greeting customers and providing excellent customer service
• Managing relationships with trade customers such as contractors, developers, and designers
• Completing projects on time and meeting customer deadlines
• Representing the company at industry and community events

Requirements

• An interior design education is preferred, but not required
• Experience designing residential and/or commercial projects is preferred
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential
• Strong project management skills are necessary, including the ability to manage multiple projects successfully
• Punctuality and availability to work on weekends and evenings are required
• Basic computer skills, including MS Outlook, Office, and a POS system, are necessary

• Knowledgeable of lighting products and retail environment
• Driven to meet and exceed sales goals
• Capable of following orders through from start to delivery, handling issues as they arise
• Helpful with tasks or projects as needed
