Lifeguard - Universal Kids Resort

About the role

Responsible for the safety of Guests in water up to four (4) feet at Universal Kids Resort’s onsite hotel pool. Partners with Front Office Operations and Housekeeping teams to ensure a seamless hotel pool experience while delivering exemplary guest service to create a safe, welcoming, and playful environment for families and children.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the proper use of safety practices and procedures for Guests within the onsite hotel pool and pool areas.
• Performs surveillance of Guests following the Lifeguard Certification Program standards.
• Demonstrates professional and consistent adherence to all pool and Universal safety standards.
• Manages the opening and closing procedures of the pool operations and shares safety instructions as needed.
• Assists Guests with special loading access into the pool in water depths up to four (4) feet.
• Maintains ability to recognize, respond to, and extract an individual in distress as necessary.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment by constantly monitoring the immediate area and surroundings.
• Ensures a neat and organized work area, including trash removal and keeping the area free of debris.
• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and pool area.
• Performs daily safety checks of the pool area for potential hazards.
• Adheres to all safety procedures, including those for adverse weather conditions.
• Maintains all certifications and training required to comply with the American Red Cross certification program.
• Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be comfortable in and around water for entire shift.
• Ability to make quick decisions, recognize, respond to, and extract an individual in distress.
• Must be able to complete required swim test and maintain American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• Must be able to distinguish hand signals at a distance of up to 50 feet.
• Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• 3+ months of lifeguard experience is preferred; the ability to swim is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
• Must pass a written and practical American Red Cross certification and general operating procedures assessment.
