Life Skills Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour sessions on life competencies including public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and feedback exchange, adjusting your delivery style and intensity across Pre-K through 8th grade developmental stages
- Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching conversations where you analyze student performance in adaptive platforms (via Coachbot analytics), establish targets, and hold them accountable to achieving 100% of weekly milestones
- Overseeing and assessing Test2Pass evaluations to verify genuine mastery of each life competency, distinguishing between participation and true achievement
- Providing focused interventions when students lag academically or show declining engagement — diagnosing underlying issues and developing corrective action plans
- Cultivating authentic connections with every student, establishing the trust necessary for them to accept guidance through moments of resistance, distraction, and uncertainty
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Presenting traditional lectures or teaching core academic content directly (students acquire subject knowledge through adaptive platforms, independent of your instruction)
- Creating original lesson plans or developing curriculum materials (Alpha supplies structured life skills frameworks; your responsibility is executing them with enthusiasm and storytelling)
- Handling parent communication or administrative school functions (Campus Leads manage these areas; your attention remains on student development)
- Evaluating assignments or preparing students for standardized testing (these elements don't exist in Alpha's model)
- Operating independently (you work within a campus team alongside Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with Pre-K through 8th grade students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management roles)
- Demonstrated experience coaching or motivating Pre-K through 8th grade students toward academic, behavioral, athletic, or enrichment objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your specific actions, and measurable results)
- Comfort with a coaching-focused model where all academic instruction is delivered through the learning platform. Your function centers on motivation and guidance, not subject-matter teaching
- Active daily use of generative AI applications (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude)
- Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Springfield, MA location (relocation assistance provided)
- Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Background in youth sports coaching, residential camp leadership, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for motivating children toward defined outcomes
- History of notable personal accomplishment (academic distinctions, competitive athletics, or leadership positions that demanded consistent high performance)
- Innate storytelling capability: you can maintain engagement with Pre-K through 8th grade audiences for extended periods without escalating volume
- Success connecting with disengaged or reluctant learners and converting them into motivated participants
- Experience supporting students who receive special education accommodations
