About the role

Alpha is a unique educational institution that reimagines the school day around faster learning, stronger mentorship, and more time for students to build real-world skills. As a Life Skills Coach, you will be part of a team dedicated to guiding Pre-K through 8th grade students in developing essential life skills.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill sessions for Pre-K–8 students, covering topics such as public speaking, focus, teamwork, and constructive feedback (interactive and project-oriented)
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivational check-ins where you assess each student's adaptive learning progress (via Coachbot analytics), establish targets, and drive them toward 100% weekly completion
  • Overseeing and scoring Test2Pass evaluations to validate genuine mastery of life skills, not mere attendance
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from Pre-K learners requiring dynamic, movement-based engagement to 8th graders needing candid accountability
  • Cultivating authentic connections with every student so they trust you to guide them through obstacles, distractions, and self-limiting beliefs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • 3+ years working directly with Pre-K–8 students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management roles)
  • Demonstrated experience coaching or motivating Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your interventions, and measurable results)
  • Regular use of generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands campus (relocation assistance provided)
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, camp coordination, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for student goal attainment
  • History of exceptional personal achievement (academic distinctions, competitive sports, or leadership positions demanding consistent high performance)
  • Innate storytelling capability: you can engage a group of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to elevate your voice
  • Success re-engaging unmotivated or reluctant students and transforming them into committed learners

Qualifications

High performers in this role do not simply impact individual students; they influence campus-wide culture and operations. If you have experience coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and have wished you could eliminate traditional teaching to concentrate on their personal development, this opportunity is designed for you.

Benefits

Health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one.

Pay

$100,000 annual salary, distributed weekly.

Schedule

Full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position.
