About the role

Cooley has an opportunity to join its preeminent, nationally recognized Life Sciences Corporate Partnering & Licensing practice in our Boston, Palo Alto, or San Diego offices. Associates with 3-6 years of experience representing life sciences companies in the structuring, negotiation and drafting of strategic commercial transaction agreements, including licenses, collaboration agreements, and other commercial agreements, in either a private law firm or in-house position, are encouraged to apply. Corporate or patent experience and/or technical degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Represent life sciences companies in the structuring, negotiation and drafting of strategic commercial transaction agreements, including licenses, collaboration agreements, and other commercial agreements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of business strategies that align with client goals.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on complex commercial transactions.
  • Participate in client meetings and negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience representing life sciences companies in the structuring, negotiation and drafting of strategic commercial transaction agreements.
  • Experience in corporate or patent law is a plus.
  • A technical degree is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Admitted to practice law in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of life sciences industry practices and regulations.

Pay

The expected annual pay range for this position is $260,000 - $390,000. Please note the final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
