Position Summary
The Life Enrichment Assistant / Driver supports residents in living well every day by combining compassionate transportation services with meaningful life enrichment experiences. This position assists in implementing programs within Eskaton’s WellPath Program and provides safe, reliable transportation that promotes connection, autonomy, and engagement.
Essential Job Functions
- Assists the Life Enrichment Director in planning, organizing, and facilitating programs within the WellPath Program.
- Safely operates and maintains activity equipment (e.g., audiovisual, music, projection, and sound systems) to enhance the quality of engagement experiences.
- Collaborates with volunteers, families, and other departments to ensure Life Enrichment programs and transportation experiences run smoothly, reflecting Eskaton’s values, and contributing to a vibrant community atmosphere.
- Assists with event setup and teardown operations, ensuring efficiency and attention to detail.
- Provides safe and timely transportation for residents to appointments, outings, and other community events, ensuring comfort, dignity, and security throughout each trip.
- Operates and maintains vehicles in a manner that promotes resident comfort, trust, and confidence, representing Eskaton’s “Welcoming” value through courteous and attentive service.
- Maintains vehicle cleanliness, safety, and readiness by performing daily inspections, fueling, and reporting maintenance needs promptly to the Life Enrichment Director.
- Keeps accurate mileage, maintenance, and trip logs in compliance with Eskaton policy and state regulations.
- Handles any vehicle-related incidents or emergencies according to established procedures and completes all required reports in a timely manner.
Resident Experience and Service
- Responds promptly and courteously to resident needs, ensuring all transportation and activity experiences align with Eskaton’s person-directed philosophy.
- Takes initiative to resolve concerns or ensures they are addressed by the appropriate supervisor, following up to ensure satisfaction and closure.
- Communicates effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding schedules, routes, and program updates.

- Fulfills required dress code and Eskaton’s Community Appearance Standards.
- Works in accordance with established safety guidelines; uses proper body mechanics; follows safe work practices; wears appropriate safety gear.
Qualifications
- Education and Licenses: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Valid California driver’s license with a clean DMV record.
- Training and Experience: Must be 21 years of age or older. Prior experience working with older adults in a life enrichment, recreation, or transportation setting preferred.
- Knowledge and Abilities: Understanding of vehicle safety, maintenance, and transportation procedures; Familiarity with activity coordination and person-directed engagement principles; Ability to follow all transportation and safety regulations; Knowledge of Title XXII and OBRA preferred; Understands the aspects of leading an activity.
