Job Summary

An Overnight Life Coach Assistant will assist staff with providing accountability and empowerment for guests to reach their self-identified goals. A Life Coach Assistant is an entry-level position designed to introduce new Life Coach team members to WSM’s model of coaching guests towards sustainable restoration. A Life Coach Assistant is a developmental position with potential for growth and promotion on the Life Coach team or within WSM, as candidates demonstrate development in the role and/or acquire relevant education or certification(s).

FLSA

Non-Exempt, Full Time. Overnights, weekends, and holidays required. Essential personnel. This position is scheduled for 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM four days a week and is eligible for shift differential of $4.00 per hour. Days worked will be assigned by Supervisor.

  • Encourage restoration in the lives of coworkers and guests, recognizing we are each restored by God to become restorers.
  • Work in full coordination with other WSM staff at all times to identify, report and respond appropriately to any potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of guests.
  • Embody, encourage, and cultivate WSM culture, purpose, mission and values in words and actions.
  • Role Specific Responsibilities
  • Weekend work is required; the specific schedule is subject to program needs and will be assigned by Supervisor.
  • Work holidays as assigned in the staff rotation.
  • Assist with incident management and de-escalation of situations on campus.
  • Function as point of contact for on-call Residential Life Leader in the event of an incident or emergency.
  • Be present in and oversee assigned areas of campus, as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain accuracy of guest information, including reporting and data management, and communicate with other shifts as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of assigned areas on campus.
  • Answer phone calls, field inquiries, and direct visitors/volunteers, as needed.
  • Assist guests moving into and out of WSM.
  • Manage inventory and stock supplies for Providence Night Shelter.
  • Maintain guest storage area and bedbug-exterminating heat chamber in Providence Night Shelter.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year in human services and/or lived experience, with preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience in the areas of homelessness, behavioral health, substance abuse, or trauma-informed care, preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or higher (or degree in progress) preferred, although candidates with a relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office products and ability to use or learn a case management software system is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) strongly preferred.
