Licensed Surveyor
About the role
Timmons Group is seeking a Licensed Surveyor to join our Survey group in our Newport News, VA office. The Licensed Surveyor is responsible for the successful management of assigned projects and client accounts, leveraging relevant office software, modeling, and CADD technology.
Responsibilities
- Manage and penetrate assigned client accounts, ensuring technical quality, profitability, and adherence to schedules.
- Lead marketing and client development efforts, including proposal preparation, negotiating scopes and fees, billing, and client follow-up.
- Maintain superior client relationships and cross-sell Timmons Group services outside of direct expertise.
- Manage multiple mid-sized projects, several small projects, or a single large project simultaneously.
- Perform design-related surveying projects, including boundary, topographical, construction, control networking, and high-definition surveys.
- Conduct calculations using surveying formulas and software to solve problems.
- Coordinate with the Division Manager, clients, staff, and internal design teams.
- Oversee project accounting, including schedule and budget management for multiple projects.
- Supervise the technical work of field crews and support client development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Engineering, or a scientific field, and/or equivalent work experience.
- Licensed Surveyor (L.S.) in one or more states where Timmons Group operates.
- 5 to 10 years of surveying experience.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D software, machine control models, and GPS/RTK technology.
- Experience in client development and supervision of technical teams.
- Proficiency in technical and office support software required for the role.
Pay
Salary range for this position is $95,000–$140,000, with offers based on internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials, and role complexity.
