The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Licensed Program Coordinator for the Ashburn Recreation and Community Center. Under the general direction of the Recreation Programs Manager, plans, develops, and oversees a specific program and staff for the assigned department.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the development and review of program policies, procedures, management plans, and budgets.
- Coordinates with staff to submit budget requests.
- Confirms that preschool programs fulfill state licensing criteria, supervises the scheduling of teachers, collaborates with the Preschool Advisory Board on projects, refreshes staff and parent manuals, and delivers the annual parent evaluation at the program's conclusion.
- Formulates and carries out surveys to ascertain if programs satisfy needs and expectations; delivers reports and data for quarterly performance assessments.
- Confirms that expenses are billed correctly; manages revenue, purchases, expenses, payments, and cash handling; and reconciles credit card expenditures within the system.
- Maintains vendor relationships, solicits bids, and establishes purchase orders for vendor services, materials, or equipment.
- Drives a passenger vehicle as required.
- Manages special events, activities, schedules, and logistics; promotes agency services and special events to the public.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the assigned program or department and one (1) year related work experience with some lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Virginia Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers.
- CPRP certification or equivalent.
- Membership and involvement in related professional organization(s).
- Bilingual skills.
Job Contingencies And Special Requirements
Must undergo a criminal background, credit, and DMV check. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required. Annual reviews of driving records may be conducted to ensure ongoing qualification.
For licensed programs requirements include: Fingerprinting, TB test within 30 days of hire; pass Child Protective Services (CPS) check; hold or obtain First Aid/CPR certifications at hire or within four (4) months.
Some programs may have additional legal requirements, credentials, or certifications to meet prior to hire or within the probationary period and/or annually.
Work hours may vary in accordance with operational needs and may involve weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
