Licensed Professional Geologist

As a Licensed Professional Geologist for the Department of Environmental Protection, you will play a vital role in safeguarding water resources and evaluating mining proposals. Responsibilities

• Permit Review: Evaluate mining and NPDES applications and prepare technical recommendations and decisions
• Field Investigation: Conduct site surveys and coordinate findings with engineering and inspection staff
• Impact Analysis: Assess geologic and hydrologic data to determine effects on water resources and develop solutions
• Technical Evaluation: Study site stratigraphy, structure, and geochemistry to support complex permit determinations
• Water Protection: Review groundwater and surface water data to safeguard water supplies and assess replacement needs

Requirements

• Active license as a professional geologist issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
• Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent
• Ability to perform essential job functions

Schedule

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• Telework: Opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week (requires securely configured high-speed internet and approved location inside Pennsylvania; subject to change)

Pay

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $70,592 (before taxes).
