Licensed Practical Nurse - USFTGP Neurology
About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the direct supervision and delegation of a physician and supports providers, residents, medical students, and clinical staff through a team-based approach to patient care.
This role performs clinical tasks within the LPN scope of practice, including patient assessment, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and preparation of patients for evaluation. The LPN provides patient education to help individuals fully understand and benefit from available care services and may work within a designated specialty or cross-cover multiple clinical areas.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining exam room readiness, managing supplies, documenting clinical information, and ensuring patient safety in accordance with emergency clinical policies and protocols. The LPN collaborates closely with the supervisor to ensure timely and high-quality care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical tasks within LPN scope of practice (patient assessment, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, patient preparation)
- Provide patient education to enhance understanding of care services
- Maintain exam room readiness and manage supplies
- Document clinical information accurately
- Ensure patient safety in alignment with emergency clinical policies and protocols
- Collaborate with supervisors and clinical staff to deliver high-quality care
- Complete additional competencies or trainings as required within 6 months of hire (e.g., pediatric responsibilities, PCMH Care Management, Team-Based Care, EPIC proficiencies, Revenue Cycle tasks)
- May coordinate schedules or performance management for Clinical Assistant team(s)
Requirements
- Technical Program: LPN Training Program
- Florida Practical Nurse License or Compact State Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification
- 6 months’ experience in a clinical role in a healthcare facility
Additional Information
- Completion of two or more pre-approved trainings, certifications, or continuing education courses related to clinical practice within 6 months of hire
- Demonstration of additional competencies designated within area of hire or across multiple specialties
Pay
Minimum salary: $21.39 per hour
Schedule
- Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- Shift: Day (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
