Licensed Practical Nurse Outpatient Clinic
Job Description
Captures patients in the examining room and ensures their comfort.
Enters patient information and documents vital signs.
Assists physicians with examinations, treatments, and office surgeries.
Performs phlebotomy and laboratory tests as required.
Screens telephone calls, takes accurate clinical messages, and answers routine patient inquiries.
Manages sterilization of non-disposable instruments and maintains logs.
Prepares and administers medications and immunizations as directed.
Handles medication and prescription questions, refill calls, and ensures accurate documentation.
Obtains insurance prior authorizations for medications and communicates changes to providers and patients.
Fulfills CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Use of Computers, telephone, fax machine, copier, stethoscope, EKG machine, pulse oximeter, oxygen devices, wheelchairs, stretchers, scales, glucose monitor, and other patient care equipment necessary to perform required duties as appropriate to the scope of the practice.
Education and Experience
- [Required] Associate's Degree or equivalent specific to Licensed Practice Nurse preferred
- [Required] 1+ position related experience
