Licensed Practical Nurse - McLeod Cardiology Associates Loris - PRN

Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

• Affords assistance to the physician in assessing patient needs.
• Carries out direct patient care tasks, including triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge, and follow-up instructions.
• Formulates the initial database by collecting pertinent information through communication with the patient and family, observation, and objective evaluation.
• Documents all relevant information in the patient’s chart.
• Executes specialized tests such as audiometry, electrocardiography, inhalation treatments, and certain laboratory procedures as needed.
• Prepares medications and administers injections as directed by the physician.
• Assists the physician with treatments and procedures as necessary.
• Provides patient education tailored to the situation.
• Schedules testing and referral appointments for patients as instructed by the physician.
• Communicates with patients via phone, addressing their concerns or referring them to the physician.
• Follows up with patients as required.
• Cleans and organizes examination rooms according to OSHA standards.
• Maintains equipment and reports malfunctions to the office manager or appropriate personnel.
• Monitors and restocks medical supplies, checking expiration dates and disposing of outdated medications.
• Orders medical supplies and assists with drug representative visits.
• Develops and maintains expertise in all equipment used for duties.
• Promotes a supportive learning environment by encouraging colleagues’ educational activities.
• Participates in quality assurance reviews of patient care by conducting chart audits and gathering data.
• Engages in departmental quality improvement projects.
• Supports the practice mission and philosophy by projecting a positive image.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Training

• Required computer skills.
• Current South Carolina (or compact state) license as an LPN (SCLLR) in good standing.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
