Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Affords assistance to the physician in assessing patient needs.
  • Assists in preparing patients for physician visits.
  • Formulates initial patient databases through communication, observation, and evaluation.
  • Documents all relevant information in the patient’s medical record.
  • Carries out specialized tests and performs medication preparation and injection administration.
  • Supports physicians during treatments and procedures.
  • Provides patient education tailored to the situation.
  • Schedules testing and referral appointments as directed by the physician.
  • Communicates with patients via phone, addressing issues or referring them to the physician.
  • Follows up with patients as necessary.
  • Cleans and organizes examination rooms according to OSHA standards.
  • Maintains equipment and reports malfunctions promptly.
  • Monitors and restocks medical supplies, ensuring drug and vaccine expiration dates are checked.
  • Orders medical supplies and interacts with drug representatives as needed.
  • Stays updated on all equipment used for duties.
  • Promotes a supportive learning environment by encouraging colleagues’ education.
  • Participates in quality assurance reviews and projects.
  • Supports the practice mission and philosophy.
  • Assumes responsibilities of other department personnel as needed.

Qualifications/Training

  • Required: Current South Carolina (or compact state) licensure as an LPN (SCLLR) in good standing.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
