Licensed Practical Nurse- Float (LPN)

About the role

Licensed Practical Nurse- Float (LPN) position available in Bronx/Washington Heights, NY. Monday–Friday, 8.5-hour shifts between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up-to-date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies, and medical diagnoses
• Manage physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and restock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• Escort patients to exam rooms
• Provide patient education concerning medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• Prepare and administer injections
• Perform phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• Perform point-of-care lab testing
• Perform EKGs
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order, following the five medication rights and reducing the potential for medical error
• Willing and able to float throughout Staten Island and Brooklyn locations

Requirements

• Current New York State LPN license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Spanish-speaking preferred
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals
• Experience with EMRs
• Reliable transportation to any NYCBS location for patient care needs

Pay

Starting at $39 per hour based on experience.

Sign-On Bonus

Eligible candidates will receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus after successfully completing 6 months of continuous employment. Bonus is contingent upon the employee remaining in good standing at the time of payout.
