Licensed Practical Nurse- Bryan Heart Intervention Cardio Clinic

General Summary

Affords support to physicians by assisting with examinations and procedures for patients with cardiac health conditions. Facilitates patient care and customer service goals by coordinating patient flow, lab work, and nurse visits.

Principal Job Functions

• Performs nursing and other patient care activities to ensure physical and psychological well-being.
• Screens patients for relevant information to update the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Room patients, taking patient history and vital signs, completing medication reconciliation, and documenting in the EHR.
• Maintains accurate and timely information in the EHR and charts for patient care.
• Supports providers by coordinating patient care and follow-up, ensuring quality patient care and customer service goals.
• Ensures exam rooms are clean and equipped with necessary supplies and equipment.
• Prepares and assists physicians during examinations.
• Performs electrocardiograms and dispenses medication as directed.
• Monitors and records patient responses to treatments and educates patients and families about procedures, medications, and health maintenance.
• Understands diagnostic tests and procedures to ensure proper billing and reimbursement.
• Assists with pre-authorizations, release of information requests, FMLA certifications, and other administrative tasks.
• Responds to and refers patient-related phone calls, maintaining confidentiality.
• Manages work hours, supplies, and clinical costs within budgetary constraints.
• Attends meetings and participates on committees as assigned.
• May assist providers at both the main site and outreach clinics.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and affiliations.
• Participates in meetings, committees, and department projects as assigned.
• Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Nebraska required.
• Minimum of one (1) year nursing experience required, clinic nursing preferred.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
